Sitges

About Sitges

What are the reasons to escape to Sitges? Among many others reasons, because it is very close to Barcelona (35 kilometers to the south) and because it is easily accessible by car (by the C-32 motorway you can reach it in half an hour), by train or by bus. Sitges is a village located in the Garraf region, province of Barcelona. It is often said that Sitges has a warm microclimate, thanks to its geographical position.

Once in Sitges, it is worthwhile to head directly to the promenade, its symbol. From one end to the other, it is about three kilometers from the Terramar area to the church of San Bartolomé and Santa Tecla, which dates back to the 17th century.

Many of the buildings that occupy the first line of the sea are small mansions in colonial style. It happened because many citizens of the late nineteenth century - the so-called Americans or Indians - made their fortune in America and, when they returned, they built houses in colonial style.

Throughout the entire promenade you can enjoy observing how the sea extends and visit some quiet beaches. Most of those are sheltered from the wind. There are about 17 beaches, which include family zones.

The old town of Sitges was an old fishing village (in some parts, you can still breathe that atmosphere). The shops offer quite extended opening time.

Sitges also offers activities and spaces for families with children, from large parks such as Terramar, with picnic area and swings; as family workshops offered by the museums of Sitges and other organizations; sports and entertainment activities for children and of course a magnificent Garraf Natural Park to enjoy nature.
